The Yarn
Knit up in a super bulky yarn makes this a quick knit. You will have a cozy throw in time for kickoff! For the sample, I used Lion Brand's Wool Ease Thick & Quick in Oatmeal for the main color & Spice for the stripes. Wool Ease is a tried a true yarn that is easy to knit & is made to last.

The Details
The Touchdown Throw starts off with a wide ribbed border before moving into the body of the blanket which is knit with stockinette stitch.
Each stripe is knit in garter stitch to give it beautiful texture & definition. As you knit up the blanket the stripe grow wider as you approach the middle and then gradually decrease as you work the second half of the blanket, finishing with the same classic wide border.
The colors I choose for the sample give it a vintage football feel, but the possibilities are endless. Knit in colors to represent your favorite team & have a keepsake to cuddle up in to watch games for years to come.

The touchdown throw only uses knit & purl stitches making it the perfect choice for a beginner knitter.
Changing colors for the stripes is easy & a great way to work with 2 colors if you haven't done so before. For the more seasoned knitter, the stripes add just enough interest to keep this otherwise stockinette stitch throw from getting boring.
